China confirms talks with the U.S., says it will fight till the end in trade war

China’s Ministry of Commerce has confirmed that working-level trade talks were held with the United States this week. However, China also said it is ready to fight till the end if the trade war continues.

A Chinese spokesperson said that the country’s new export rules on rare earth metals — which are used in many high-tech products — are fair and legal. The U.S. was informed about these rules in advance. The spokesperson added, “If there’s a fight, we’ll fight to the end; if there’s a talk, the door is open.” China also accused the U.S. of using unfair export controls and putting pressure on its economy.

This statement came after U.S. President Donald Trump warned of a 100% tariff on Chinese goods because of China’s tighter rare earth controls. So far, China has stayed calm, but higher tariffs could increase trade tensions again.

Relations between the two countries have been tense for months. The U.S. has raised tariffs on Chinese goods, and China has responded in return. Technology and export issues remain key points of disagreement.

The talks between China and the U.S. might calm markets for now, but the situation could worsen if new tariffs are announced or trade tensions grow further.
