Ukraine Orders Mass Evacuations Around Devastated Kupiansk Amid Heavy Attacks
Ukrainian authorities have ordered mass evacuations from villages surrounding Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region due to heavy attacks and worsening security. The move comes after continuous Russian shelling and threats in the area.
Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that over 400 families, including more than 600 children, were initially asked to leave 27 villages, which later expanded to 40 localities as the situation grew more dangerous. Kupiansk is a key strategic city, and recent attacks have put many civilians at risk.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Ukrainian forces are actively defending frontline areas, including Kupiansk. Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to claim control over parts of the conflict zone, keeping the region unstable and tense.
The evacuations aim to protect civilians and prevent further casualties as both sides clash fiercely. Humanitarian agencies are preparing to provide support to the displaced families.
