Trump and Japan PM Takaichi Sign Rare Earth Deal, Start a New ‘Golden Age’ of Partnership

Donald Trump and Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi have signed two big deals that mark the start of a “Golden Age” in US-Japan relations. One of the main deals focuses on rare earth minerals, which are very important for making batteries, phones, and other modern technology.

This deal comes as the US wants to depend less on China for rare earth supplies. Japan has a lot of these minerals, but it has faced problems with mining and processing them. Working together, both countries aim to improve production and build stronger supply chains for the future.

The meeting was held in Tokyo, just after Takaichi became Japan’s first female Prime Minister. Trump praised Japan as a strong ally and said this partnership will help both countries grow together.

This agreement also comes at a time when global trade and politics are changing fast. Trump is expected to meet China’s President Xi Jinping soon to talk about trade, showing that rare earths are now a key part of world politics.

Impact:
The deal could help boost rare earth supply and strengthen US-Japan relations, but if mining faces delays or China reacts strongly, progress might slow down.
